Still Standing. . . Today we hear of the song of the angels: "Glory to God in the highest and peace to all people on earth." |

That is the prayer of a group of people who, for five years now, have been gathering on the second Sunday of every month in front of the church. For thirty minutes we simply pray in silence, holding lit candles. A few months ago, the second Sunday fell after a day of heavy rains followed by the typical flooding situation on Route 17. As a result our corner was the route of many detoured motorists. All of the "prayers" that evening were amazed at the number of cars that slowed to notice what all the candles were about, to wave, honk, or say their own prayer. Many prayers for peace were added to ours that evening. Consider joining us at 7 pm to pray for peace in our families, in our communities, in our church, in our nation, in the world. May the song of the angels become a reality soon. |
